John Patrick Organic Spring 2010

To make up for a lack of posts in the last two weeks, I present to you John Patrick's Spring 2010 fashion show...

Replete with supermodels, celebs, and fashion's big wigs, the show maintained a low-key vibe set in a historic Midtown Manhattan steakhouse. Models like Lindsay Wixson (a new industry fave) were posed, in character, as Bohemian creative types. Separated from the bunch was Shalom Harlow in a menswear look.

the centerpiece of the display...roomy blouses, pearls, a pencil skirt

a washed silk dress in lavender floral next to a sheer blouse and high waisted slacks

a classic trench, nautical stripe tee, and high waisted shorts

a slub gray tee paired with navy silk capris

Shalom Harlow in a shrunken suit and bowtie

Classic trenches, drop waist shifts, high-waisted skirts, nautical striped tees, and washed floral dresses with a nip at the waist were presented in natural fibers like silk, cotton, and vegetable dyed leather. Accessories like sheer silk knee-high socks, chunky pearls, strappy heels, and deep red lips tied the ensembles to the prohibition-era setting. And, as with all John Patrick's collections, the novelty details (boyfriend sizing, 40's era shoulders and skirts, and 20's waistlines and fabrics) were pulled together with utility basics in a way that exudes timelessness and fashion wit.

Organic by John Patrick | Out of the Box

I think I'm falling in love with John Patrick. I love throwing on his over-sized plaid shirt, his slouchy soft cardigans, his soft-worn scarves. I love that his clothing is timeless and incredibly well made. Isn't most menswear? All I need is a little belt and some heels to make it my own.

Ok, clearly I'm not gushing over a man who's closet I've raided. John Patrick is an American designer - quickly rising to fame for his industrious and ethical construction methods and his unique take on unfussy fashion. This season we fell for his boyfriend looks...
